Step 1: Editing Mode
While in the course, there should be a button to the top right, “Turn editing on”. Hit that so we are in edit mode.

Step 2: The Padlock Icon
With editing mode, next to each resource/activity you will see a list of icons, there is a new icon that looks like a padlock. Click on the padlock icon for the resource/activity you want to lock.

Step 3: Selecting Activity Lock Options
You will see a list of resources/activities in the left column, and a list of check boxes on the right. The checkboxes you choose will be what is required for the resource/activity you wanted to lock.
There are some more options near the bottom, time delay, visible when locked, and show prerequisites.
When you have selected all activity locks desired, at the very bottom of the page click the “Save Activity Locks” button.

Note: New Unlock Icon
Now you will see two icons for the resource/activity with locks. There is a padlock icon that is open, this will remove all locks on that resource/activity.

Note: Prerequisites
When a student tried to access an resource/activity with locks, there will be a list of prerequisites shown for what they have not yet done.

Respondus Sever Setup Tutorial

This tutorial is intended to guide for UVU staff setting up Respondus 4.0. After this Tutorial you will be able to setup Respondus to upload the quizes directly into courses hosted on Blackboard.

Step 1: Select Personality

Step 2: Tab:Preview & Publish, Side-Navigation:Publish to WebCT

Navigate to find the Publish Wizard by selecting the “Preview & Publish” tab from the top and the “Publish to WebCT” from the tabs on the left. If the “Publish to WebCT” does not appear, then make sure that the correct personality was selected in step 1.

Step 3: Add a new server

Choose “- add new server -” from the drop-down menu under section 2.

Step 4: New Server Settings

Choose “No, … Manually”

Step 5: WebCT Server Information

First of all if the image does not match what you are see then the ‘personality’ may not be st to WebCT.
Section 2: that URL is from any blackboard course you can log into. The program just takes extracts the server domain from this.
Press Extract and the field will be automatically populated. If not then make sure that section 2 has a valid URL.
Press the Institutions button and select “Utah Valley University” from the drop box.
Under Section 5, the Description is the name you will see when publishing quizzes(like in step 2). The user name and password are the same that I use to log into Blackboard.
The check box is to remember the user name and password. Check this at your own discretion.

Step 6: Select Server

Similar to Step 2, but now we have a server. In my example I named the server (in step 5 section 5). Select that server from the drop box and hit next.

Step 7: Publish Settings

Section 1 contains a drop-box that contains an option for each course the user’s(Step 5, Section 5) blackboard account. Choose the class to receive the file.
Section 2 contains a “category” that is an organizational unit with the selected course assessment area.
Section 3 is about naming the quiz and how it is applied to the course.

Step 8: Published to the Course

Step 9: Blackboard Check

In my example the quiz was named “Quiz 1″(in step 7 section 3).
Finally take the quiz to verify it was upload correctly.

The php script file counter is working. When you run it, it will display the target directory’s total of files, then the total for each of it’s subdirectories just 1 level deep. I thought the extra information would be helpful to narrow down what course has the most. If the counter should do anything else/better, just let me know.

Here is the result for these specific extensions:

mp4 mp3 mov m4v avi flv swf wmv
Total 676 5258 286 213 22 69 806 3

This script is on desource, and will be used to track and plan the conversion of file types to more current mp4s for use in Flowplayer.
